The Company
Bhutan Professional Services was established in 2009 by a construction professional with more than two decades of experience in the construction sector in Bhutan. The establishment of the company was prompted by an innate desire to contribute in nation building considering the critical role of the private sector, and the acute shortage of professionals practicing in this sector in Bhutan.
Bhutan Professional Services has, since its inception, established itself as a reliable partner based on its proven track record, which includes the delivery of a large number of landmark projects, thereby earning the respect and goodwill of its Clients.
Bhutan Professional Services continues to seek exciting and challenging opportunities in its quest to produce the most satisfactory outcomes for its Clients, while constantly striving to innovate and build on its experience and knowledge base.
Knowledge of the market place is a key ingredient for any business as it determines the ability of the company to respond to the changing needs as well as effectively meet the needs of its customers. Bhutan Professional Services has an intimate knowledge of Bhutan’s construction sector as well as a large network, both within the public and private sector, and is therefore well placed to service the needs of the industry.
Business Diversification
One of the core objectives of Bhutan Professional Services has always been to introduce “systems approach” in construction as a way to enhancing construction productivity and cost reduction, through adoption of innovative building technologies and construction materials.
While we have largely focused on project management services in the last ten years, we have realized the need for professionals to play a catalytic role in building the industry as the construction sector continues to be unproductive, has poor quality standards, and fails to meet customer expectations.
This has led to the formation of strategic partnerships with leading companies, since 2019, with the objective of:
- Introducing appropriate building solutions to achieve better quality standards and reduce construction durations;
- Encouraging youth employment by using smart building solutions;
- Introducing smart technologies to enhance customer experience and satisfaction;
- Providing ‘end-to-end’ solution to customers to address the current challenges within the industry;
All of these collaborations will synergize our efforts of building comfortable homes and providing the best technical solutions.
The Company was founded by Basant Raj Chhetri who served as the Chief Engineer in the Ministry of Education until 2008. Thereafter, he served as the Project Manager of the highly acclaimed Royal Thimphu College, which is one of the largest private sector undertakings in the country.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Concrete Technology, Construction & Management from the University of Dundee, UK, and is amongst few Bhutanese professionals with a global perspective of the construction industry. Further, he has an innate understanding of Bhutan’s construction industry through his involvement in the sector both as an implementer as well as a member of the Construction Development Board for many years.
